IRISH TRADITIONS ATLANTA AWARDS ANNUAL MUSIC SCHOLARSHIPS

Kicking off the Irish March Celebrations 

Atlanta, GA – The Irish Traditions Atlanta 2020 Music Scholarships will be awarded at a celebration this month to four students of Irish traditional music who will advance their skills at Irish music workshops or competitions. Irish Traditions Atlanta (ITA) scholarships are awarded annually to foster the development of Irish musicians and singers. The 2020 award recipients are Olivia Bradley, of Woodstock, GA; Sofia Campisi, of Atlanta, GA; Eimear Kilcullen, of Atlanta, GA; and Mackenzie Sauter, of Cumming, GA. Olivia Bradley is awarded the Senior Scholarship. She is a national champion of Irish singing, an Irish Dancer and Bodhran player and performs throughout the Atlanta area. Youth scholarships are presented to Sofia Campisi, Eimear Kilcullen and Mackenzie Sauter. Sofia Campisi studies the Irish fiddle and Irish Dance and attends Inman Middle School. Eimear Kilcullen studies the Irish fiddle, whistle and singing and attends The Little Middle School in Inman Park. Mackenzie Sauter studies the Irish concertina, whistle and Irish step dance and attends St. John Bosco Academy.

Since 2009, Irish Traditions Atlanta has been granting financial awards to students of traditional Irish Music.

"We are committed to enabling the development of Irish musicians and singers in our community,” said Teresa Finley, Board Chair of Irish Traditions Atlanta. “Many of our recipients have gone on to achieve top placements in National and All-Ireland music and singing competitions, enhancing Atlanta’s reputation as a city steeped in Irish Traditions.”

Irish Traditions Atlanta (a non-profit) is a branch of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann, the premier Irish organization dedicated to the promotion of the music, song, dance and language of Ireland. Irish Traditions Atlanta awards scholarships to students of Irish traditional music and song annually and organizes IrishFest Atlanta.
